Dr. Biykem Bozkurt serves as faculty for K2P’s LEGENDS series, where she has a 3-video series updating learners on the management of heart failure in 2022. She is also a regular contributor to other K2P activities, including a recent activity reviewing new heart failure data presented at the 2021 AHA meeting. Dr. Bozkurt is the Mary and Gordon Cain Chair of Cardiology, Professor of Medicine, Director of the Winters Center for Heart Failure Research, and Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX). She is also the past president of the Heart Failure Society of America and past chair of ACC’s Heart Failure and Transplant Member Section and Leadership Council. In December 2021, Dr. Bozkurt was named the next editor-in-chief of JACC: Heart Failure. She is the chair of the AHA/ACCF Practice Guidelines for the Management of Heart Failure Writing Committee and the AHA/ACCF Task Force for Practice Guidelines. Dr. Bozkurt teaches medical students, residents, fellows at the bedside; and mentors trainees in clinical and translational research. She was the recipient of the National Veterans Affairs Secretary’s Hands and Heart Award for Recognition of Highest Standards in Patient Care in 2003, American College of Cardiology Proctor Harvey MD Young Teacher Award in 2005, Master Clinician Lifetime Award at Baylor College of Medicine in 2014, and American College of Cardiology Gifted Educator Award in 2016.
